The winner Of Innovate 2022 - Earthwoven

Winning Innovate 2022

Almost one year ago, something huge happened that has really changed the direction of my life, both personally and professionally. I won Innovate Hawkes Bay 2022, to be very honest with you all I didn't think i had a chance of winning. I purposely didn't invite anyone to come at support me because i didn't want anyone to see me lose (so silly, looking back on that mindset)

I was up against some other incredible businesses and ideas. It's an opportunity I will forever be grateful for. Being one of the youngest entrants and the youngest winner in Innovate's history, is something I never thought “old me” could achieve.

I owe immeasurable thanks to the incredible individuals I've met. Their support, even in the face of doubts based on age, gender, or appearances, has fueled my determination to succeed.

It has given me the confidence to be able to carry on and keep pushing the mission of having a safer, cleaner approach to skin conditions. Earthwoven is not here to replace the medical side of skin conditions. I just want there to be an alternative for people who prefer to avoid the clinical approach, a natural option that really works.

I tried everything from 6 month courses of antibiotics, to accutane (isotretinoin) . I had invasive biopsies done to see if there was a specific bacteria/fungus causing it. This all led to some serious organ complications and the clinical/medical path no longer viable for me. I'll delve deeper into these experiences in future posts, so if there's anything specific you'd like to know, please ask.

The research, science, and studies that drive Earthwoven are my passion. The process of transforming a synthetic chemical into a natural active ingredients with the same efficacy is a complex journey.

Long story short, Even I have to remind myself of this. If you believe wholeheartedly in something, give it your all and silence the external noise. There will be challenging days that push you to your limits mentally, physically, financially, and spiritually. Starting a business, dealing with grief, and taking on the role of sister mum all at once have tested me, but they've also shown that if I can do it, so can you.
